Although all seems quiet regarding progress with the next stage of Te Ara Piko, there is much work going on behind the scenes.
The design for the pathway is complete and the tender documents for the bridge over the Kakaho Stream and the boardwalk though the wetland have been finalised and sent out. Prices have been received and considered and a successful tenderer has been identified.
Meanwhile applications for funding continue. There is sufficient money on hand for the construction of the bridge and the boardwalk. Another Garden Trail is planned for 27 November this year and there is a Rotary firewood project with funds designated to the pathway.
Maintenance work on the pathway with replacement of some of the macrocarpa decking is on-going and the restoration nursery has a stock of plants for the mitigation planting, which will occur once the boardwalk is completed.
Progress is sure to be visible during the next few months.
