You'll remember that in May 2014,  the Rotary Club of Plimmerton commissioned Michael Thompson of Altitude Imaging to fly his drone over the Pauatahanui Inlet and make a video to celebrate the opening of the first section of the Te Ara Piko Pathway at a function in Pauatahanui on Wednesday 28 May 2014. The video was very well received and, in fact, the owners of Pauatahanui Lighthouse have been showing it before running all their movies ever since. Hundreds of people have enjoyed it.

Michael farmingTaking beautiful videos is only part of what Michael can do with his drone. He has recently been featured on the front page of the 8 April edition of Wall Street Journal. You can see a video here that shows what else Michael can do with his drone, this time with technology and how it relates to farming. When asked how he felt about the news, Michael said, 'I thought someone was pulling my leg'.

This is a great story of how Michael, a local 'boy', has got his story out into the world.
